Majella Clarke
Majella Clarke is an Australian Conductor, Multi-instrumentalist, Artist and Artificial Intelligence Strategist based in Helsinki, Finland. She completed a Bachelor of Music (Performance) at the University of Sydney and went on to study advanced conducting under the Masters of Music (exchange program) at the University of Washington, Seattle, USA and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in contemporary repertoire conducting from the Swiss Italian Conservatory in Lugano. In addition to qualifications in music, Majella also holds degrees in Science, Economics and an MBA. Between 2009-2016, she served as a negotiator and advisor under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. She has led many projects around the world addressing issues on climate change and environmental issues. Between 2010 and 2013, she co-founded and directed the Vientiane Voices - a choir based in Laos. In 2018, she co-founded, and is the Artistic Director of, Ensemble 4.0, for agile performance of new music with technology. She has conducted the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic Orchestra (Czech Republic), BDB Musikakademie Wind Symphony (Germany), Ensemble900 (Switzerland) as well as various university and community ensembles. Recently, she was a conductor at the Soundscape Festival in Cesena, Italy, premiering several works by living composers. Majella advocates for balanced and diverse programs and boards.
