Shkurte Ramushi
My name is Shkurte Ramushi, I’m a painter, photographer and art teacher , currently based in Espoo, Finland, originally from Kosovo. In my artworks I research and investigate nature-humans-arts relationships, the life between two states and the memories of my home. In recent years, I was also a teaching assistant for 4 years at "University Kadri Zeka Gjilan" and for one academic year at "University Hasan Prishtina, Prishtine" Kosovo and also working with NGO for people with disabilities, teenagers and kids. I was invited to several international artistic arts shows, exhibitions and festivals in Kosovo, Albania, Macedonia, Switzerland, Italy, Finland, Czech Republic, France, India and more. My main inspiration is nature, society and the human soul. Throughout my life experiences, art has always fulfilled me. It was precisely the art and my special connection with it through which I gained freedom and independence. Also, in the days of quarantine and isolation it was once again art the one that helped me find freedom and creativity. "Quarantine" had a power through which we were pushed to remind what is the importance of the existence and humanism. Creating and also creating together with my daughter for me is the only thing that keeps on being constant, giving me security and connecting me to myself and this world. These are just parts of my world, of the nature that I see every day on earth, which in fact is the happiness in earthly paradise. In art each one of us are able to have our own kingdom, and my kingdom in art is called the "Kingdom of Mushrooms". Kingdom of Mushrooms because the mushroom is a magnificent plant, together with an imaginary landscape of mushrooms, trees, stones along with symbolic colors of an afterlife, even microscopic. Also, nature is a kingdom. In my paintings the stones represent sustainability, trees - life, mushrooms - humanity and cactus - survival. These are the main symbols that remind us that in addition to heaven, paradise can easily be found under our feet, on earth. Meanwhile, different types of mushrooms as healing, nourishing and poisonous, can easily personify human characters. My paintings come as an artistic call to try with all our being to preserve and protect the nature of our planet.
