How can digital art be effectively curated and presented in virtual spaces? This webinar explores best practices for curating digital galleries and showcasing digital artworks online. From selecting platforms and designing virtual exhibitions to enhancing audience engagement, we will discuss the evolving landscape of digital curation. 

The Kuvata Project is implemented by Tampere University of Applied Sciences, the University of Lapland, and Globe Art Point ry. The Häme Centre for Economic Development, Transport, and the Environment has granted partial funding from the European Union’s ESR+ program for the Kuvata Project. 

About the Speakers 

Annet Dekker is a curator and researcher. Currently she is Associate Professor Archival and Information Studies and Cultural Analysis at the University of Amsterdam and Visiting Professor and co-director of the Centre for the Study of the Networked Image at London South Bank University. She has published numerous essays and edited several volumes, among others, Documentation as Art (co-edited with Gabriella Giannachi, Routledge 2022) and Curating Digital Art. From Presenting and Collecting Digital Art to Networked Co-Curating (Valiz 2021). Her monograph, Collecting and Conserving Net Art (Routledge 2018) is a seminal work in the field of digital art conservation. aaaan.net/annetd/  

Anna Laamanen is a Digital Producer at the Finnish National Gallery, where she specializes in creating immersive, interactive experiences that blend art and technology. Her work includes producing virtual exhibitions, video essays, and gamified art projects.  www.linkedin.com/in/anna-laamanen

Ville Laaksonen (b. 1978) is a versatile cultural professional with nearly two decades of experience across the arts, culture, and beyond. His career spans roles as a curator, artist, critic, educator, and exhibition organizer, with a strong passion for organizational development. His work extends into EdTech growth marketing and brand development in the sports industry, broad ening perspectives on future possibilities for cultural ecosystems.
