Alex van Giersbergen (b. 1988) is a Helsinki based new-media artist focused on creating digital experiences. His works includes interactive installations, visuals for live performances and web-based projects. Alex draws inspiration from natural phenomena, the quirks of daily life, history and the human interaction with technology. The works, created using custom software and electronics, allow the audience to playfully explore complex topics.
For his live visuals, van Giersbergen works closely with sound artists to create coherent audiovisual live-performance, that aim to create a meaningful connection between the visual and audio elements on several levels. The resulting visuals use basic shapes and visual elements to display the underlying complex processes.
