Choose to See The World (Tulkitaan, Tulkitaan Hetkiä)
‘CHOOSE TO SEE THE WORLD (TULKITAAN, TULKITAAN HETKIÄ)’: A WINDOW EXHIBITION AT GLOBE ART POINT BY NAOMI HOLOPAINEN 1.2. – 22.2. 2024
“I used to look up in the sky. Drew stars and wondered…”
This showcase explores life’s inherent transformations and the unveiling of hidden stories. The pieces capture the interplay where discarded fragments merge with memories to find new life.
The installation, grounded in process, explores the use of materials to understand inner landscapes and alternative realities. In the creation, Naomi Holopainen observed the communication with materials and objects, each with its own existence and story. People actively engage with the surrounding material reality and symbolic environment, shaping relationships with each other and the world, providing opportunities for contestation and reshaping.
Can I ever be able to understand you, your way of
existing and being? Can I even truly understand my
own heart, the minds of others.
The exhibition is an interplay between what is produced with recycled materials and the act of creation. It prompts consideration of how our environments and spaces relate to the creation process, emphasizing the concept that energy never dies; it only transforms. ‘Reshaping Memory’ invites reflection on the cyclical nature of creation, where discarded fragments find new life, memories surface, and the transformative energy inherent in all things becomes evident.
