Most importantly, you will learn how to join their respective networks. Particular focus is given to theatre, dance and circus.

• WORKSHOP 1: Workshop on Living Heritage by the Finnish Heritage Agency (Museovirasto)

What is your heritage? How or why should I safeguard it? How is it related to sustainability?

Come and try out the Spinner of Living Heritage!  The tool makes it possible to spark an uncomplicated discussion about cultural heritage or to lead learners of different ages into deeper reflection.

The Spinner of Living Heritage is aimed at teachers, educators, instructors of hobby groups and anyone interested in cultural heritage. The Spinner of Living Heritage has been created as part of the international LIVIND project by the Finnish Heritage Agency and the Association of Cultural Heritage Education in Finland.

• WORKSHOP 2: Socially and Culturally Sustainable Finnish Art. Workshop on the Dialogue Cards 2.0 by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike)

The workshop will present a dialogue tool that supports cultural diversity and sustainable development. The tool provides organisations with practical support to reform working community practices and to respect cultural diversity and equality. After a short presentation, we invite facilitators and changemakers to discuss practices and tools for dialogue on cultural diversity: What kind of collaborative processes or creative workshops could help organisations to respect and embed diversity and equity in their work? What are the pros and cons of each method?

• WORKSHOP 3: Cuerpalatina Pop-Up Experience

This is a special last minute addition to our summit programme organised for those participants of the conference who were unable to secure a spot in the summit workshops.

This experience follows the dramaturgical arc of the Cuerpalatina performance by Impropias Collective. Cuerpalatina is a dance-installation that takes the participants on a journey from separateness and strangeness into a celebration of togetherness. The movement language of the piece draws on the research and deconstruction of Latin American folk and popular dances. Impropias Collective will share with the audience their creative process and practise with a very low threshold for movement and interaction.

In this experience you will:

– Dance in a silent disco with your own headphones
– Explore movement possibilities with songs from Latin America of your choice
– Dance in small groups and dance all together in a mini dance party!
– Share your experience, reflect with others and meet the people around you.

This workshop is open to everyone with a wide range of skills and abilities.

IMPORTANT: Please remember, in order to attend this workshop, participants must bring their own set of headphones!

The Cuerpalatina Pop-Up Experience is facilitated by Mercedes Balarezo and Paola Nieto Paredes / Paola Elean, welcome!

Impropias Collective
Founded by Mercedes Balarezo Fernández, Yes Escobar, Paola Nieto Paredes, and Daniela Pascual Esparza in 2021, Impropias Collective researches Latin American identities from an embodied, situated, and feminist standpoint. In Spanish, “impropia” is the female form for inappropriate, for something inadequate or untimely. It is also a play of words between “improvisation” and “propio”, which means cool and street-smart in Ecuadorian slang.

The performed Beijing Opera performance is a solo from the classical play ‘The righteous General is Banished’. We see the hero, Ren Tang Hui, presenting himself and looking for his brother, the General. The General has been wrongfully accused, banished and there is a plot to kill him. Our hero is in a hurry, however, it’s getting late and he needs to find shelter.

The performance demonstrates the skills for physical expression of the wu sheng role type with the long belt and one sleeve.

Elias Edström is a professional actor and director of physical theater. He is the first non-Asian to graduate with a masters degree in Beijing opera from the National Academy of Chinese Theater Arts. In his professional career Elias has already founded two theater groups, Wusheng Company and Matchbox Company, the latter in which he is the artistic director as well as working with institutions in finland such as Tero Saarininen Company, The National Theater, Helsinki Festival and more.
