Did you know that highly talented artists with migratory backgrounds face systemic barriers that limit their access to opportunities, funding, and professional networks? In Europe, these challenges are often reinforced by institutional structures, ingrained habits, and decision-making processes that fail to recognize the value of diverse artistic contributions. The arts and culture sector has the power to shape societies, challenge norms, and foster meaningful dialogue. Many cultural leaders express willingness to improve inclusion in the cultural field.
The Access, Advocacy, and Active Inclusion – Pathways to increasing Diversity in the Arts and Culture Field (AAA) project was launched in 2023 to address these systemic barriers and to create long-lasting change. It provides cultural institutions with up-to-date resources to foster inclusion and advocate for equitable policy reforms. As part of this initiative, an EU transnational training module has been developed, to serve as a tool for cultural leaders, policymakers, and decision makers committed to creating a more inclusive and diverse art and culture field. The training module highlights gaps in current structures, identifies key challenges faced by artists with migratory backgrounds, and provides concrete strategies to address discrimination, bias, and exclusion.
Developed in collaboration with cultural professionals, the Towards Systemic Change: Diversity Training Module for Cultural Leaders brings together insights from surveys and existing research informed by firsthand experiences. It aims to support leaders in implementing sustainable change in an easy and effective way. Mark your calendars and be part of the change! We look forward to seeing you there!
The launch is aimed at cultural leaders but it is also open for anyone else interested in learning about its functionality and goals. However, please note onsite participation is reserved for cultural leaders only. Other type of professionals are invited to follow this event live on Teams.
