I am a visual artist, photographer and educator based in Helsinki. I use photography as a tool to examine and engage with the world – in my work I aim to bring attention to overlooked or hidden aspects of familiar environments and explore our relationships with them.
At the core of my photographic practice are analogue processes – for me the tactility of analogue photography translates as integrity and genuine engagement. Analogue processes require a slowing down, one that leads to a more considered, contemplative outcome and an approach that allows for meandering and discovery.
Alongside working on personal projects, I teach introductions to photography and darkroom practices at educational institutes from high-school to university, as well as leading workshops in various subjects related to photography for businesses and events. I also work on photographic commissions. I hold a BA in photography from the University of Sunderland, England, and have graduated from the photography programme at LAB-ammattikorkeakoulu, Lahti.
