Jack Faber creates immersive art experiences that act as new meeting points between surveillance economy, scientific innovations, public spaces and multi-species relations. His interdisciplinary art projects – integrating new technologies, culture studies and artistic research – give insights to creative practices, highlighting positive cartographies of critique. These projects merge personal and collective histories in unexpected ways through film, installation, site-specific works, media art and public performances. Jack examines the possibilities of emancipatory social engagements through the incorporation of salvaged footage, archival materials, original documentation and drone recordings together with scripted materials. He sensitively uses humour, transgression and cinematic strategies for in-depth investigations of social inequality, militaristic oppression and climate rights.
Starting his career as an independent writer and a visual artist, Jack published three books while creating video works, films, site-specific installations and performances for solo and group exhibitions in museums, galleries and public spaces. He’s been working mainly in Europe and the Middle East, where his work has been censored, due . With an inventive non-invasive approach, his artistic research engagements focus on urgent social and environmental issues such as species and human rights, climate equality, the exponential growth of the security state and its relations to the attention economy. He won prizes and grants internationally. As an artist with physical disability, he sees accessibility and availability for wide audiences, especially with disabilities, as key concepts and as means to achieve togetherness and closeness even in the days of physical distancing and alienation from nature.
