OPEN CALL FOR LABORATORY AT EMMA- ESPOO MUSEUM OF MODERN ART
What is Michael Jackson’s role in contemporary art today? What does Michael Jackson mean to us, what does he mean to you? How does Michael Jackson as a cultural figure relate to your art practice, to the politics of everyday life, to movement, music or pop culture?
EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art and Globe Art Point open the search for individual artists from different disciplines wanting to participate in the 2019 project “OFF THE LAB”. EMMA is a high-profile art museum and non-profit organization, inviting visitors to enjoy art through active participation and interaction. The project is part of the Globe Art Point program “G.A.P. Lab”* and will happen at the same time as EMMA’s upcoming exhibition Michael Jackson: On the Wall. The exhibition examines the impact and influence of Michael Jackson on artists and the continued interest in him as a major cultural figure.
The main outcome of the laboratory is the process itself, generated by collaboration: Artists from different disciplines working together as well as with the museum staff. The group will plan the interventions during March and April and the experiments, processes and conclusions will be presented publicly during the process and at the end of the program on September and October 2019.
In the project, each artist will have an economic compensation of 200 per meeting that will be paid by GlobeArt Point ry. The meetings will take place a maximum of ten times, so the final compensation for each artist will be 2000 euro.
To apply for “OFF THE LAB” fill this form before January 31th 2019 31.1 at 12h (GMT+2).
